About the consortium

Who we are

The Global Musa Genomics Consortium (GMGC) is an international network of scientists who are applying genomics tools to the banana to ultimately improve its breeding and management. The consortium currently brings together expertise from various institutions in different countries.

In comparative genomics, Musa is seen as an interesting model for understanding genomic evolution in relation to biotic and abiotic stresses, in a polyploid and vegetatively propagated crop.

Members are encouraged to collaborate and to share materials and resources, including sequence data and enabling technologies. Wherever possible, the products of the Consortium are placed in the public domain.

Complementary information and history of GMGC can be found and enriched at Musapedia.
